What was the process of setting up a WordPress blog like for you?

I thought it was fun. If you follow the step by step process setting up a blog can be pretty simple. I think it will be interesting to toy around with the various tools available.

How could blogging be used in teaching and learning?

I think blogging can be a useful tool for teachers to keep both students and parents updated with day-to-day activities that occur within the classroom. Blogs are a great way to funnel information to students and direct them to links without them getting sidetracked.

Where might blogging not be an appropriate tool?

Blogging can be inappropriate for students of younger ages, where they can potentially struggle to access information. Parents can also limit internet access for their child at home, therefore a blog would be an inappropriate tool for certain students as they cannot access information outside the classroom.

Can you envision any potential uses of blogs at the grade level & subject areas where you hope to teach?

I think blogging can be great for middle school-aged students as they’re more comfortable with using the internet by the time they reach the age of middle school. A blog is a great resource to convey information for students and a easier process than printing out a pamphlet/newsletter for each individual student. Instead you can send a student a link and they’ll have access to all your material.
